Alison Crary

Alison discovered her passion for art as a child, but like many, life became busy and art took a backseat for years. After more than a decade working as an Occupational Therapist, the challenges of home health care during the pandemic inspired her to return to art as a form of healing.

Today, Alison works primarily in oils, drawn to Southwest landscapes and scenes. She spends considerable time outdoors, finding inspiration in the light, color, and atmosphere that define western vistas. Her focus isn't strict realism—instead, she aims to capture the feeling of a place and moment, sharing the excitement that moved her to paint in the first place.

Beyond the studio, Alison enjoys life in Prescott, AZ by gardening, paddling, hiking, and working with her BLM mustangs, which she trained herself. She holds Signature Membership in the Arizona Pastel Artists Association and Associate Membership in both the Oil Painters of America and Women Artists of the West. She regularly participates in juried festivals and plein air events, and has been invited to exhibit in the Phippen Museum's Miniature Masterpieces show and the Yavapai College Plein Air Event. While she's received recognition for her work, her greatest satisfaction comes when her art brings someone joy or encouragement—the true purpose behind her creative practice.
