Valeriy Kagounkin is a Siberian-born artist whose work reflects a lifelong devotion to painting, cultural history, and the dignity of everyday people.
From hiding outside an art classroom as a young boy in Krasnoyarsk to graduating with honors and studying at the prestigious Moscow Art Academy of V. Surikov, Valeriy’s path has been defined by persistence, discipline, and purpose. His paintings often honor Siberian history and the “plain folk” whose labor shapes daily life. Today, his work is held in museums and private collections around the world, and he has received both a United Nations Silver Medal and a Gold Medal from the Russian Art Academy for his cultural contributions.
