Lakota Sioux War Shirt by John MacLeod - JM0514

SKU: JM0514

This shirt was inspired by an 1870's Lakota Sioux shirt in the National Museum of the American Indian. The red stripes on the lower arms of the shirt represent coup marks, which could be earned for various exploits in battle, such as riding close enough to an enemy to touch him, battles participated in, horses stolen, and other acts of bravery.

Materials: Deer hide, seed beads, crow beads, red trade cloth, horsehair, green and red trade pigments.

The dimensions of the war shirt are 60"W x 40"H.

We at Black Arrow are excited to have John MacLeod's creations as a wonderful addition to our collection. We hope that you enjoy his work as much as we do!
